Fine flavoured cocoa from Peru
In Peru cacao trees grow along the valleys of the Andes, from the northern regions in the Amazon area down to the southern cacao fields in the Valle Rio Apurimac.
The fine flavoured cocoa we use for our Amacado Plantagenschokolade comes from the Amacado plantation in the Amazon area. This fine flavoured cocoa has a nice, somewhat tart taste.
Almost 1,000 families growing cocoa have joined together forming a cooperative. These smallholding enterprises have areas of between 2 and 8 acres of land under cacao cultivation. The cooperatives arrange the cacao harvest, see to it that the cacao beans are well fermented and dried and market them.
We assist the cooperatives in every way possible. Cooperating with the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture and the partners of the cooperatives we take care of the quality and the marketing.
